A short history of Charles and Magdalena Chada

Charles Chada was born in Bohemia in 1860 and came to the U.S., landing in Texas. He moved to Marinette, Wisconsin where he found work in the lumber mills. There he met and married Magdalena Eigenberger. Four of their children were born in Marinette; Marie in Milwaukee. The family moved to Milwaukee, WI about 1900.

The lives of the family members revolved around their home and their church, St. Augustine. After Ralph and Louise married they lived close to the church where he was an usher and a member of the Holy Name Society. The children attended primary grades at the parish school, sang in the choir, served Mass, and took part in processions, and were married there. Ralph was a Prudential agent for 35 years and well known in the neighborhood.

The three daughters, Lillian, Clara, and Marie eventually moved to the Chicago area to find work. Lillian was a legal secretary and Clara a milliner. For a while Marie worked as a legal secretary but returned to Milwaukee to be of service to her parents.
