NOTE: The command described on this page is not yet available... you can live with KDE until it is :)
The computers in the ACL run Linux. For many of you, Linux is probably unfamiliar because you're used to using Microsoft's Windows. The ACL's default is to give you a graphical environment called KDE. KDE is a very featureful environment, and it provides you with many more capabilities than Windows' environment does. Another desktop environment, GNOME, which is also very powerful, is also provided.
However, if you'd still rather feel more like you're sitting at a Windows machine when you're working in the ACL, the ACL has a special command for you. Get to a command prompt and type:
$ imisswindowsThat's "I miss Windows," all lowercase, and with no spaces; hit return. Now, the next time you log in, instead of selecting "KDE" from (FIXME: add name of menu), select xsession (FIXME: make sure that's right). You will enter an environment that looks and feels more like Windows than KDE.
